Each year St. Tiernan’s Senior Business students attend the Mayo Co. Enterprise Board Business Boot Camp. This is a local initiative run by Mayo Co. Enterprise Board for budding entrepreneurs. This is a local initiative run by Mayo Co. Enterprise Board for budding entrepreneurs. It is a one-day course where the students are mentored and encouraged to devise a new product and service. It is an extremely well run event and a learning experience for the day. This years St. Tiernan’s 4 year students came up with a product called ‘’wipe it white’’ a device to clean whiteboards. St. Tiernan’s were runners up on the day but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

St. Tiernan’s 4 year business students take part in Moy Valley Resources Enterprise Awards on a regular basis. St. Tiernan’s have been very successful in this competition over the years and have won some beautiful prizes as winners in the producing category and as overall school winners. In early October of each year a representative from Moy Valley Resources comes to our school to help the students brainstorm and set up a business plan. The presentation night is usually held two weeks before Christmas in the Glasgow Kennedy Centre, with the following mini-companies:

  • Tír na nÓg
  • Cross creations Ltd
  • Tiernans Treasure Ltd
  • Name it and frame it Ltd

And all students involved and their teachers Ms. Conway and Ms. Gaughan have worked very hard to attain these achievements.
