Schools Business Partnership

S.C.P.

The Schools Business Partnership (S.B.P.) is an initiative of “Business in the Community Ireland (B.I.T.C.I) that aims to develop mutually beneficial links between schools and business at local level to support the governments overall strategy of educational inclusion.
Our school is also involved in the “Skills@Work Programme” as part of S.B.P. programme under the umbrella of S.C.P. We are delighted to be linked with LionBridge Technologies in Ballina.

LionBridge is the leading provider of translation and localisation services.They help global companies meet their customers’ language and cultural preferences by adapting a wide range of deliverablesincluding products, documentation, Web Sites, Software, Marketing Materials, Multimedia, and eLearning Content. This programme provides an insight for students into the world of work using employee expertise.

The programme aims are:

For Students:

  • To encourage students to “stay in school” and recognise the value of education.
  • To give students an insight into the diversity of employment roles within a company.


For Employees:

  • To develop presentation skills.
  • To enhance communication skills.


For Business:

  • To provide opportunity for employer supported volunteering.
  • To provide the opportunity to recruit strategically into the company through partnership with a local school.


We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at LionBridge, Paul, Robert and all the staff for their continuing help and support. Also our thanks to Fania Ellison, the S.B.P. Regional Co-ordinator who brought about the link with LionBridge and this fantastic opportunity for our 4th Year LCVP students.
